Bangkok x Chungcheongbuk: Collaboration to create business opportunities, culture, and tourist

At the end of 2024, Bangkok Province, led by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, welcomed Mr. Kim Young Hwan, Governor of Chungcheongbuk Province, Republic of Korea, and his delegation to discuss between the two provinces, seeing the importance of the development plan, cooperation to create business opportunities, and extending the culture, tourism, and trade of both cities.

Chungcheongbuk Province is located in the central part of the Republic of Korea. It is one of the important manufacturing centers of the Republic of Korea, especially in the chemical, electronics, building materials, and processed food industries, with many leading companies located in this area. It is also well-known for its high-quality cosmetics and medical beauty industries, ranking among the best in Korea.

The Governor of Chungcheongbuk Province signed a letter of intent to promote cooperation between Bangkok, the Kingdom of Thailand, and Chungcheongbuk Province, the Republic of Korea, for future collaboration through key issues focused on Culture and tourism, renewable energy, education, health and medicine, anti-aging and regenerative medicine, elderly care, science and technology, and so on.

In the field of anti-aging and restorative medicine:

Bangkok focuses on establishing rehabilitation medicine and palliative care centers in hospitals under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to ensure that the elderly and patients will receive appropriate care by learning good practices from Korea.

In education:

The K-International Student Scholarship Program in Chungcheongbuk-do Province aims to offer international students comprehensive support, encompassing admission, major selection, internship, employment, and post-graduation settlement.

In economics:

The Thai government has promoted various industries to stimulate the economy and create long-term sustainability. The Thai government has primarily promoted the following industries: the Electric Vehicle (EV) Industry, the Food and Agriculture Industry, Clean Energy and Environmentally Friendly Industry, and the Creative Economy. Certainly, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has to support those policies of the government and attempt to find ways to cooperate with Chungcheongbuk-do Province. 

In a collaboration between Navamintharadhiraj University and Chungbuk National University:

which is still in the process of coordination and waiting for details from Chungbuk National University to be a guideline for cooperation between both universities going forward in many topics.

The discussion with the delegation from Chungcheongbuk Province, Republic of Korea, took place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Amornphiman Room at Bangkok City Hall (Giant Swing). Signing is a positive start. Cooperation creates business opportunities and further develops in various angles of operation such as culture, tourism, and trading between Bangkok and Chungcheongbuk Province.
